Reminder :

Just a reminder that the three-man battle royale between St. Andrew, Reevo, & Coyote Slingshot show is today @ The Beauty Shop. While this is a day before NYE, it's a good way to get you in that celebrating kind of mood. If you're not familiar with St. Andrew, you've got a nice catalogue to catch up on. The guy cranks out some heat! I had the chance to catch a couple of shows, including a couple of impromptu dance parties @ KRUU FM, courtesy of P5K.

Coyote Slingshot is straight up fun - be it the music, album art, vinyl obsessions, etc. Last time I saw Dominic Rabalais take the stage, he was sporting a slimming dress, so who really knows what to expect tonight. I mean, aside from a really good time. Also, Dom's our 'Employee of the Week'. Why? Keep posted @ The Industry - We've got a new Sweat Power compilation to crank out in what should be a rad three-day birthday celebration, courtesy of the forementioned bro.

And of course, Reevo's bringin' some hardware. For those not familiar, Reevo is the other bruddah in reggae-dub duo, Ill & Natti. I personally don't know Reevo that well, but I do have a nice impression on what his electronic influences are -- a tremendous strong point. You can also catch him tomorrow @ Vivo's, which I'm assuming has an age-bar, but y'never know.

Read our previous post about tonight's line-up here.

Ride the Roller Coaster at Arthur Lee Land

Do New Year's Eve up -- Paradiso style!

Get'cho groove on and bring in the new year with the one-man folk rock loop master, also known as Arthur Lee Land, as he performs live, utilizing his signature live-looping style that combines the best in folk/blues/afro-grass with technology.

A cool little side note - December 31st is café owner Steve Giacomini's birthday. Be sure to wish him a great new year as well.

Arthur's packin' two sets for the occasion. The former consists of his renown looping style. The latter will see him bust out his '55 Fender Telecaster, and team up with Doug Daller (keys), Will Gunn (bass) & Koray Ozturk (drums). Plus, y'know, they always have surprise guests at these things.

Blues. Folk. African percussion. Looping. Dancing. What else can I say, right?

Non-surprise guest performers slated for the NYE show include: David Murphy, Sondra Ward, Meret Giacomini, KT Thauwald, and Carol Carlisle.

Tickets -
$10 for adults.
$7 - students.
(Get your tickets in advance at Cafe Paradiso. They'd make a nice gift to ring in the new year!)

Hit 'em up at their website. If you get the chance, snag a nice, roasted coffee. It is winter, after all.

December 30th @ The Beauty Shop

  • St. Andrew
  • Coyote Slingshot
  • Reevo

The party before the party -- December 30th welcomes the return of gunslingin' DJ, St. Andrew, the jingle-janglin' of Coyote Slingshot, and the four-on-the-floor + wobblin' of Reevo.

All at 'dat Beauty Shop. If you remember, St. Andrew and Coyote Slingshot teamed up about this time last year and generated a damn fine show, so it should be absolute fire when Reevo drops in.

100th Post! Captain Captain Industries Official Release of "On My Headband (The Captain)"

One-hundred posts, guys. That's pretty damn nice. Thanks to all of the readers, and our two newest official subscribers, Heath Morris and Jason Burkhardt. Thanks to all of the musicians we've featured -- I'm lookin' at you Lane Weaver, Purple Asteroid Cadillac, Abby Frerichs, The Olympics, and many of the other artists Captain Captain Industries has grown so fond of. Thanks to all who've made C.C.I. more than just some scrappy music blog.

In proper Industry fashion, we're releasing an official track to mark the one-hundredth post celebration. Originally manufactured for an introduction to our radio program (which is today, guys), "On My Headband" is a nifty little hip-hop instrumental that we hope to get some vocals written and recorded here in the near future. For now though, tell me what you all think -- we need some feedback on this one.

Ladies n' gents - Captain Captain Industries proudly presents :

Captain's Quarters - Orange Text Mode

(Behind KRUU FM)

Yo, today (and every Thursday) from five to six p.m., I bring the heat on "Captain's Quarters", a completely original radio program on 100.1 KRUU. Lately, I've been splitting the spot with local swag dealer, Tama Eagleson, who always matches my taste for radio-burnin' tunes. Check us out today by headin' over to KRUU FM's website and click that icon in the top left, over on the 'Playing on Air Now' tab. That'll stream our show directly into your iTunes, bro!

Today, I'm packin' some tracks by C.C.I. featured artist, Heath Morris, some new heat by Deadmau5, FlyLo, rare Ratatat tracks, and of course, we're bringin' a sixer of Chew Fu -- and that's just half of the show! I know you're gonna give this one a listen.

'Til then though, I'm out!

Tiësto vs. Diplo YouTube Gem.

Tiësto always kills it. Best live shows / light shows in the business. Solid, solid tunes. A strong grasp as the world's number one deejay spot. All great reasons why I tip my cap every time someone brings Tiësto into the conversation. Like an electronic war-vet.

Not too much going on at the Industry today -- Christmas hustle n' bustle, collaborating with anybody and anyone, and just taking time to relax. It's been a fairly tiring couple of days, but y'know what it is. I'm gonna jet to Ottumwa; check out Hibbett Sports and ... well, that's about it. If that mall was a living creature, then it wouldn't have eaten anything for at least four years. That's probably enough hatin' on O-Town for one day. (fuck ottumwa.)

I'm outta here. I'll see you at the office tomorrow.

Camille Morehead + Utopia Park - January 7th @ Le Beauty Shoppe

Awww, yeah! It's gonna be all about those arts n' crafty crafts on January 7th @ The Beauty Shop! Check out Camille Morehead's ArtWalk solo showdown, with C.C.I. accolades - Utopia Park, providing some soundtrack action. What's Camille bringin' to the table? Oh, I'm glad you asked! She's got guache. She's got those collage techniques, and you know she's bringin' the outer space flow, bird imagery, and a gentle obsession with ▲'s to the partayy! Where you gonna be? At the Beauty Shop, das' where! I'll see all of ya' on the 7th, gazin' at that amazin' art and dancin' to some fierce tunes!

EDIT : We've decided that it'd be more effective, and much more relevant, if we moved our "Employee of the Week" segment to Friday from now on. Makes more sense than postin' 'em mid-week, huh? Yeah, we thought so, too.

Heath Morris

Big, big week for the Industry, as we've got Sweat Power details to be pushin' out, clothing lines to share, and well...I won't spoil any more for ya'.

First up on our list? Local producer, Heath Morris.

Heath used to release work under the name 'Siamey', but alas, he's ditched the alter ego, and now goes solely by his legal name. From Iowa to Canada, and back to Iowa again, Heath's got a pretty nice collective of experiences, influences, and sounds that he applies to his productions -- his latest EP, 'Night Sounds', just dropped on iTunes, and I gotta say -- this EP is off-the-daaaamn-chaiiiin!

Filled with electro-bangs, clicks, clips, four-on-the-floor beats, and much more, Night Sounds comes off as well produced as anything of the bloghouse heyday of '07-'08. I actually got the chance to hear this at The Beauty Shop a week or so ago as the transitional music for that 'in-between' time for sound checks. As many people will tell you, I absolutely had to know who was responsible for these sounds, thinking that I may have missed out on a new Justice or SebastiAn album release. Much to my astonishment, this was all local -- We'll keep our eye on anything this guy has lined up. Whether it's any more original production, or even shows he has lined up, we'll let all y'all know first.

Night Sounds is way too good to pass up. As a holiday gift from us at the Industry to you, we'll let you in on a little download action. Check out "Goodbye", straight off of Heath Morris' 'Night Sounds' EP - exclusively at Captain Captain Industries.

Unofficial Sweat Power Pre-Festival Pump-Up

January 13th! The official start of the Sweat Power Festival. More details to follow shortly, but you heard it here first -- Check out the Sweat Power blog for more pressing details.

Thurs. - Fri. Recap.

Just a quick couple of notes for everyone on this Saturday afternoon --

First off, thank you for the reader support of Purple Asteroid Cadillac. Due to the popularity of our last post, we kept it as our headliner for two solid days -- a C.C.I first. Hopefully we'll get a nice re-cap of their show yesterday with the Uniphonics.

Second off, we've got articles in the making, highlighting the works of Heath Morris, Solo clothing line, the up-and-coming Sweat Power festival, as well as more original mixtape information. It'll be a pretty nice week for all of us at the Industry, which means it'll be some pretty good readin' for all of ya'. Keep checkin' in -- we've got goodies for everybody.

Finally, we never got around to doing a new edition of 'Employee of the Week'. --
Denver
Nuggets'
basketballa', J.R. Smith, quickly solved that for us. It's pretty rare for YouTube to catch a glimpse of a man taking flight quite like this. Seriously -- look where his feet leave the ground. Plus, he just put that defender on a poster. Poor guy.

I'm gonna go venture out of the office for a bit -- Like I mentioned, this should be a solid week, and I'm PUMPED about some of this Sweat Power showcase we'll throw up here. Keep stoppin' by, and be sure to leave us a kind word or two!

Purple Reigns in Cincinnati.

What're the Purple Asteroid Cadillac crew doing in Cincinnati? Probably decimating Hampton motels or ruthlessly slapping fools in the face. Maybe they're attending a game or two from one of Cincy's awful premiere sporting franchises...

In all seriousness, Tha' P.A.C. are staring down the barrel of what could easily be considered their biggest potential break to date -- a slot in front of Lenny S., VP A&R of Def Jam Records.

After demonstrating their ferocious flow, an enthralled Lenny claimed the P.A.C. as being the premiere future sound of hip-hop, and that their signature live-band / hip-hop collaboration was exactly the direction that the industry was moving. Pretty good for a man deemed 'emotionless' in terms of finding new music. Their competition (or lack-there-of)? A vast number of cliche MC's rhyming over their own records, using that ancient, unfresh formula to get some recognition.

Lenny made specific remarks about each of the performed songs -- all very positive, and went on to say that "Shine On", one of the P.A.C.'s most notable singles, was "very radio friendly". Fooch got the lyrical recognition from a big industry leader that he's deserved for quite a while, so even if Def Jam doesn't sign them, the word's out about the P.A.C., and it's only a matter of minutes, hours, and days until we see 'em get picked up by a Roc-A-Fella, or a Definitive Jux or somethin' big, y'know?

We'll see the Purple Asteroid Cadillac hit the studio soon for more tracks for Def Jam, and of course, for all the fans on Captain Captain Industries. Until then though, you've just received your dose of Purp' for the day; Hit 'em up at that new, crispy website, which you can find right here.

This video says it all :

Be sure to catch the new Captain Captain Industries updates, up-coming interviews, album reviews/releases and so much more -- and be sure to catch the Purp' when they come to your city. I gotta go calculate exactly how many views we received yesterday (a shitload quite a bit).

-- I know y'all aren't still reading this! Go check out that video AND their website, and send the P.A.C. some love. --

The Olympics + Santah

Free music is good music. That's why I suggest all of you brace the cold, and head to the Mill (in Iowa City) on the 21st of this month -- Captain Captain Industries fave, The Olympics, team up with Champaign, Illinois' very own Santah, just in time for the holiday season. The doors open at 9:00 P.M., so be sure and get a premium spot to watch n' learn. After ten, however, you've gotta be 19+ years of age to party.

For those who've followed us for a bit, you know that our first piece on The Olympic garnered a lot of attention, and a lot of traffic -- For good reason too! These bro's play catchy tunes, and they'll probably hang out with you after the show. Sounds like quality stuff to me, and I think it sounds like quality stuff to you as well. Hit 'em up at their OFFICIAL WEBSITE, listen to the songs featured, and be sure to catch 'em all at The Mill, December 21st - 9:00 p.m. sharp. Be there or be ▲.

Captain Captain Industries Exclusive : Abby Frerichs

Captain Captain Industries looooong-term accolade, Abigail "Abby" Frerichs, has unveiled a demo tape that's swirling and twirling around the confines of the internet. The six-song demo, all done in spectacular acoustic, ranges from a fun six-string spunky version of Miley Cyrus' "Cant Be Tamed" to a C.C.I. radio show favorite -- her beautiful rendition of the Jackson 5's classic, "I Want You Back".

It'd be an honor to inform you of her not-so-secret downtown Waterloo show at the Cellar. It's on the seventeenth of this month at precisely eight o'clock sharp, and if weather/various car issues permit me to, I'll be there. If however, I can't attend, you all should take my place. You wouldn't be disappointed in the least, plus you'd get to see her perform live -- something I regretfully have not done yet. If you live in Waterloo, or in the surrounding area, then you have no excuse to miss this.

So you're still skeptical? Not anymore!
Check out this downloadable bonus :

Hopefully we can snag some more tracks from this rising acoustic wonder, so be sure to stay tuned. A subscription/bookmark wouldn't hurt, right? :)

I have a strong feeling that this won't be the last time you hear from Ms. Frerichs here at The Industry. Until then though, stay warm and drive safe.

Beauty Shop Post-Game Wrap Up

Twenty-one degrees. A light, frosty wind. A light, grainy snow dusting the ground. While moderately irrelevant, it seems that these weather inclements separated men from boys in our little town. While the attendance was relatively low, it was a guarantee that anybody who showed up at the Beauty Shop encountered that signature blend of unique fun. Lane Weaver's flow was immaculate, Utopia Park was dressed for the occasion, and Ill & Natti threw down some bold dub-on-reggae beats. Plus, we've got some sick new clothes we gotta show you sometime - More will follow. For now, I'm going to go hibernate. I'll see y'all when it's sunshinin' outside!

"BYLCL SMKFRSH" - The new joint by Lane Weaver ft. Fooch

In preparation for tonight's three-band/rapper battle royale at the Beauty Shop, Lane Weaver has dropped what may be his most hyped track yet. Featuring Purple Asteroid Cadillac's Fooch, this little jingle is quite the killer. Plus, two of our most popular posts have featured both of these artists, so I know we've got quite a few people who're gonna dig this one.

Bonus : The cover art (courtesy of Oliver Huntley) is a 3x4 masterpiece that would look good in your living room. The t-shirts would look just as good on you while you're checkin' out that new painting you just hung above your 52-inch. Interested in these swagnificent delicacies?

Then you gotta hit Lane up at his Official FaceBook Page.

Without further ado, Captain Captain Industries is proud to feature two premiere artists, Lane & Fooch, and their bumpin' new jam - "BYLCL SMKFRSH" (Buy local - smoke fresh, y'all!)

Afro Samurai + Utopia Park

After an absolutely killer show at KRUU FM, I braced the cold, and ventured over to our secret extended branch on S. 3rd Street. While I was there, I just so happened to watch the entire "Afro Samurai" saga -- a series I haven't seen for at least a year. To quote local free-lance artist Lane Hollrah, "After all I've witnessed [anime-related], Afro Samurai is still the flyest thing I've ever seen."

Couldn't have said it better myself. And you know what's even better? Afro has the soundtrack of hip-hop absolute legend. Produced by the RZA, this OST is an absolute staple. For those with simply one or two tracks, I strongly recommend piecing together your library with this gift, courtesy of the Captain --

And this clip -- a viewer discretion advised : this does get pretty bloody.

----

In other news, local legends Utopia Park, slated for Saturday's showdown at The Beauty Shop, drop their newest piece of video gold. This mask-riddled joint, entitled 'Problem Child', isn't short on visual oddities -- the humanimals (human + animals, silly) at :32 channel some more-than-interesting vibes. This track's quite a jump from previous material, most released under the "Porno Galactica" moniker. I like this jump. A good reach in a new direction, "Problem Child" is one for the books. Keep your eyes on these guys, as well as the up-and coming "Sweat Power festival" - details soon!

Without further ado, Captain Captain Industries presents :

"Problem Child", the new video by Utopia Park --

Keep it set at the Industry; we've got some projects in the works as we speak. Our mixtape has blossomed from "just an idea", into "in-the-works". Interested in being on said tape? Also, we're gonna have some new details on that Sweat Power festival -- something that one does not wanna miss. Alright y'all. I'm headed to the man-cave. Just snagged the entire three-season legend that is Arrested Development for like, thirty bucks -- Target's nice during the holidays.

Ruby Weapon's "Party Thighs" Video

The other day, Captain Captain Industries favorite, Lane Weaver, dropped a sick video in my inbox via FaceBook. After watching this three-and-a-half minute wonder, I was struck by a serious question ::

"Are y'all down with party thighs?"

The featured artist goes by Ruby Weapon, and they're comin' straight outta the Chi'. Hit 'em up at their official MySpace Music Page if you're so inclined.

A side note : The bro with the umbrella-slash-unreal socks deserves an honorable mention here. His presence really tied the whole thing off.

Employee of the Week #4

Previous Winners :
  • Michael Vick
  • Kid CuDi
  • Kemba Walker

Employee of the Week? No question for who it is this week : I've been anticipating this album release for months. Ladies n' gents --

Deadmau5 is the new Employee of the Week.

When Joel "Deadmau5" Zimmerman isn't doing cameos in "Gossip Girl" or killin' it during the commercials (hah) of the last MTV Video Music Awards, he's releasing some 5-star albums. "4x4=12", released on the 6th of this month, I believe, has some pretty high standards going for it -- deemed his 'breakthrough' album, "4x4=12" will either propel him into the newly-found David Guetta-esque pop status, or sink his ship back into the digital underground. If it's the former, good for Joel. I'm long past the point of caring whether my favorite artists 'sell out', or 'make it big', or whatever you wanna call it. Hopefully, he'll make it big on quality, and not watered-down catchiness (i.e. Kings of Leon). I haven't actually played the album enough to compare it to his previous two (which will be a lot - believe me), but it's been in heavy rotation since MediaFire was so kind enough to let me have it four days before the official release.

When you get a minute, you've gotta take a listen to this fun ten-minute mini-mix of the album --

Idea #1 -- Possible Captain Captain Industries Mixtape?

We've been bouncing around the idea of a collaborative mixtape, featuring artists that have graced the pages of C.C.I. This idea spans from the popularity of various local artists, as well as our new, "Hello, Stranger" segment. If made, these mixtapes would range anywhere from two-to-four dollars, and feature (our goal, at least) twenty different songs by twenty different Captain Captain Industry favorites. 100% of the proceeds would go towards funding more mixtapes, as well as upgrading the website here.

Like I said though; it's just an idea -- we'll see how it plans out. I'd definitely need some feedback on this one before any action is taken.

Hello Stranger #5 - Krovo

I was going to write an entirely original piece on our featured artist Krovo, but after reading his last.fm page, I really don't think I could sum it up any better.

Directly from his last.fm bio :

"Krovo is an abstract musical project of last.fm user DefaultXR. He is very interested in creating a continually evolving and shifting sound - often the parts of the music sound slightly different each time they occur. Krovo’s songs can sometimes sound messy and random because structure is buried under a plethora of effects, LFOs, and random variables. This can be partially attributed to a fascination with nature, which might seem completely arbitrary to those who choose not to understand the order and purpose behind it all.

Krovo’s musical influences include glitch, noise, hip-hop, industrial, breakcore, punk, math, and video games. Krovo’s abstract and non-musical influences include love, autumn, evolution, chaos, nature, and the sense of vision. All of these inspirations can be heard in Krovo’s sound. For example, sounds are often made in attempts to create audio versions of visual things - a texture within a song might be an attempt to make the sound of what the ground looks like.

The sounds are produced in a variety of ways - usually digitally but not always on computers. For software, FL Studio, Audacity, LMMS, MilkyTracker, and Pd have all been used at some point. Hardware used by Krovo includes: Alesis Micron, Roland SP-404, and microphones.

Krovo has released three albums and five EPs thus far:

Skk - debut album, psychedelic rhythmic noise.
Noiser - first EP, harsher, more abstract sounds.
Find - second EP, much more conventional rhythmic electronica.
Senkyder - second album, dense rhythmic noise and poppier tunes.
Oktrans - third EP, autumn-inspired textures and melodies.
Diskyder - fourth EP, dark ominous remixes of Senkyder tracks.
Axis - fifth EP, sometimes glitchy, always evolving.
Xyko - third album, composed 100% of synthesizer glitches.

Krovo has also made a total of three remixes for other artists, as well as various ringtones.

All of Krovo’s music is available for free download online via the netlabel K-PDT, and is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 License. This means that you are free to copy, modify, and distribute it, as long as you provide credit and are not using it for commercial purposes."

- Krovo's last.fm biography

He seriously made my job that much easier. Here's to Krovo -- our most blog-prepared artist thus far.

Sleep well, everyone!

Hello, Stranger #4

Today's "Hello, Stranger" segment comes to us from Youji, an electronic artist that flies so under the radar that we really couldn't find any background information at all, despite our extensive research. Youji combines 8-bit sounds with four-on-the-floor house grooves and trance-esque keys, something C.C.I can appreciate. Check out some of Youji's tracks here at the Industry, or here at his BandCamp profile.

Hello Stranger(s) #3

(Due to the increased submissions in our new segment, we've decided to double the artist-per-post for this edition of 'Hello, Stranger'.)

Our first submission comes to us from the Great White North, an area in which Captain Captain Industries has increased trouble attaining steady readers. Representing Ontario, Canada, C.C.I presents "Naked Women's Street Fighting League", in what could arguably be the best-named group we've featured on the website thus far. While their MySpace Music Page dubs them as 'Alternative/Punk/Rock', we feel that may be a bit misleading. NWSFL, or what I've heard from them, is strictly two-to-three minute, fast-paced punk to the core.

If you are one of our incredibly scarce Canadian readers, catch them at Black Pirate's Pub on the 22nd and 30th, located at aptly-named Thunder Bay, Ontario CA.

Interested in NWSFL? Click 'here' for their MySpace Page and give these guys a listen. They only have two limited tracks, but it appears that they have four more on the way.

Here's to actually seeing a naked women's street fighting league before I die.

----

From Canada back to the United Kingdom, alternative-ska group "Ruberlaris" brings something quite new to the table. While I've heard numerous ska groups in my day, there's just something more 'experimental' with these guys. The tones they use are so unique that I was swayed instantly -- Ruberlaris could be the best rendition of ska that I've heard in a while.

This group is the whole reason I'm doing this project -- to find quality music that may not have presented itself otherwise. While you may have not heard of this group before, Ruberlaris is fairly popular in comparison with most of the artists featured in this segment. With almost 45,000 MySpace Music Profile views, it's pretty evident that they've got their neighborhoods bouncing around to what has been described by the band as 'Rastabilly Skank'.

New 'Ruberlaris' EP out -- December 18th, 2010.

Hello Stranger #2

Our second edition of 'Hello, Stranger" comes to us from overseas, in our first international artist feature here on C.C.I. Straight from the U.K., diabolical mash-up wizard 'Schismatic' appeared over on 420chan.org, a Captain Captain Industries online favorite, if I do say so myself. Schismatic arrives in perfect time for the up-and-coming mash-up revival, and I must say, these tracks completely hold their own.

Give a minute of your time to check out Schismatic, and if you have a SoundCloud account, give him some good feedback and a definite subscription. While these individual songs are limited to only four, you can easily see that Schis' knows how to blend effortlessly.

Don't take my word for it though! Listen for yourself.

Hello, Stranger -- New C.C.I Segment.

After our initial success of featuring various local artists here at Captain Captain Industries, we've decided to do a new, exclusive segment featuring musical artists from every corner of the world, solely through pure online connection -- we're dubbing this new adventure, "Hello, Stranger", as I have never met, nor heard of, any of these artists before this project. After a two-week span of soliciting various Internet forums, I've collected a handful of up-and-coming musicians, artists and styles you may have never have heard -- until now.

In our first featured segment, we've decided to invite Arizona folk artist, Shath, to the conference room. When he's not shredding out to Blitzen Trapper, (to which the Captain was delighted -- he's seen Blitzen Trapper open for his hero, Stephen Malkmus), Shath lays down some star-gazing desert-folk, which I'm happy to announce will grace my weekly radio playlist at KRUU FM.

Check out today's featured artist, Shath, at his BandCamp profile, where you can find a free album that's just begging to be downloaded. In fact, I believe mine has just finished downloading as I'm typing this.

For those who still frequent MySpace, Shath is also available here.

Congratulations, Shath, our first featured artist of our brand-new, "Hello, Stranger" series. Keep up the good work. As Tim and Eric would say : "Great Job."

Heat vs. Cavaliers Post-Game Wrap-Up.

Last night, LeBron dropped thirty-eight big ones to bury his former team amidst a sea of boos and crashing waves of profanity. TNT tried their darndest to mute the audiences' specific jeers, but they couldn't stop everyone -- a cry of 'oh shit!' was heard before a commercial break, cameras panned to people flipping LBJ the bird, and there were numerous top-deck ejections for rowdiness.

This could've been the most disrespectful game I've ever laid my eyes on. Remember last year's Favre-in-Lambeau game? Not a whole lot of negativity - granted some clever signs, but nothing entirely disrespectful. This time around? Forty-eight solid minutes of jeering, whining, and booing. Oh, poor Cleveland -- you wanna know why LeBron left? No supporting cast. See the Cav's final record this year, and tell me that they had a graceful fall from Conference Champion -- it just won't happen. Reggie Miller said that the Cav's may inch into the playoffs, based on how weak the East is this year, but y'know what?

After last night, they don't deserve it. Granted, I like Byron Scott. I do. But, boy -- I hate the Cav's. Dwight Howard wouldn't get that treatment if he left the Magic. Is this what 'Melo has to look forward to next year, when he leaves Denver for NY? And what about Big Z, who got a standing ovation, despite playing for the Heat with co-hort King James? Did Cleveland realize their hypocracy, and the realization of the free agency? Doubt it. F_ck Cleveland for being that sh_tty of a fan base. Seriously. I hope you re-locate to Seattle. By the way? Akron hates CLEVELAND - true story.

ugh, good game none-the-less :) favorite part?

Big Story of the Week - LeBron James vs. The World

Easily the most hyped story of the week, and potentially the most watched NBA game of the year -- Tonight, December 2nd, LeBron James and his superstar accolades, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, take on slum-of-a-franchise Cleveland.

Usually, two mid-tier teams wouldn't garner this much attention, but as everyone knows, LeBron stiffed the Cav's, and up-and-left to South Beach, where the weather, talent, and market is much more developed. Now, the city of Cleveland wants revenge. Expect a chorus of boo's for King James and crew, even though LeBron grew up in Ohio.

Who wins? Well, the Heat haven't quite met our legendary expectations, but that doesn't mean the fans at the Quicken Loans Arena will be too happy. They upped security for a reason, right?

The Cav's post a 4-5 record at home, while the Heat are abysmally sloppy on the road, so the Cav's have a shot. Do they win?

C.C.I prediction :

Miami Heat - 104; Cleveland Cavaliers - 89.

LeBron posts 31; Wade shines, while Bosh is relatively quiet. Hopefully we'll hear some signs of life from Eddie House, seeing as he's my fantasy back-up.

Sorry, CuDi -- Cleveland's awful awful awful this year.

Employee of the Week #3

Previous Winners :
  • Michael Vick
  • Kid Cudi
This edition of 'Employee of the Week' was filled with candidates, making this an incredibly tough decision. Could it be Conan O'Brian, who in the past three or four weeks, has dominated TBS ratings? Is it a local music phenom who unintentionally boosted C.C.I viewership? Could it possibly be Andre Johnson, for that fantastic beatdown he put on Cortland Finnegan?

All deserve to win. However, your new 'Employee of the Week' is...

The University of Connecticut's Kemba Walker.

Kemba Walker, the youngest inductee in 'EotW' history, was born in the Bronx on May 8th, 1990. He's a six-foot one-inch (samesies!) point guard for the University of Connecticut Huskies (not so samesies...), and a former McDonald's All-American. I'd get acquainted with the name if you're a fan of the NBA -- this guy's showing no signs of passing up a lottery pick in the future, and if he keeps up this pace, he'll dominate.

Walker is the second athlete to be named 'EotW' since its inception three weeks ago. Is the Captain a sports fiend? Clearly. Does this man still deserve this honor? Absolutely.

Only twice in six games has Kemba failed to score thirty or more points (18, 39). He's buried Kentucky and Michigan State -- two Final Four regulars. He's single-handedly carried UConn to a #9 ranking overall, and shows no signs of stopping. Did I mention he's the leading scorer in the nation?

Add it all up, and you have yourself the Employee of the Week. Congratulations, Kemba Walker -- the first basketballer to receive this prestigious honor.

(Note -- music by previous winner, Scott 'Kid CuDi" Mescudi on this next one.)

Numbah' Fifteen doin' some work!

December 1st

Oh man, December's here already. BURR.

I'm sure you've seen Derek Anderson's notorious post-game conference, where he blows up on a reporter and up-and-leaves. If not, you've certainly gotta give it a view. Even he's under the impression that he's a low-tier quarterback, but at least he 'puts his heart and soul' into it.

--

The reason I actually posted this popular clip isn't actually because I thought it was hysterical -- what's really hysterical is Dwight Howard's impression of this incident. He could legitimately be the funniest player in the NBA.

--

And since fall's basically over, this picture has no business on the blog. But seriously. It's a Charles Barkley pumpkin. We'll make an exception.

December, here we come!
