Ten Hours and Thirty-Three Minutes

is now the bar for anybody bold enough to top Lane Weaver's newly crowned "Longest Freestyle" record. Weaver, a local hip-hopper and Industry regular, gathered the masses at the Beauty Shop, where he laid heart, soul and probably pieces of his body on stage for ten-and-a-half hours.

As of now, no plaques or anything, but we do have some exclusive footage that we'll have edited by this time tomorrow, so that you can see the crowning confetti-filled glory that was.

Filmed in early June by Ike Winkler, Lane performs "Natalie Portman", a stand-out piece on his mixtape "Being Broke is More Fun Than It Looks", live at the Bedrooms and Basements release party.

"Gettin' Oiled Up" - The New Ish From Lane Weaver

I
n what seems like a Weaver-heavy week at the Industry, the man himself sent me his newest piece of shining glory, "Gettin' Oiled Up", an ode to Lane's comical sleeziness, lyrical bounce, and off-the-wall metaphors "(Bitch, I ball/Lindor)" .

The phrase "Gettin' Oiled Up" refers to just that, as shown by two toga-strapped women greasin' down a shirtless Lane on a blue-and-white trimmed porchstep. Shot and edited by Ike Winkler, the video ends with the not-so-secret details regarding Lane's upcoming attempt to slap the world record for longest freestyle in the face. (September 3rd, 2011 - Beauty Shop/Live Stream on LaneWeaver.com).

Come check out Lane's new vid' with us, and be sure to check back often for more local hip-hop, or y'know, just to say 'hi' or something. :)

(September 3rd, 2011 - Lane Weaver will attempt to break the world record for the longest freestyle rap, which clocks in somewhere at around nine hours.)

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

What's up local bros? How've you been, online blog connections? Good to see you, new-blog-discoverererers.

Been a little bit, I realize. Got some nice news for ya', however.

Number One : C.C.I. favorites, the local live hip-hop pioneers known as the Purple Asteroid Cadillac, are opening for the ever-so-stoner-friendly Afroman (yeah, that Afroman) on August 26th @ The Washington in jolly old Burlington, IA. It'll be a show that you cannot miss. Point-blank. Like a game-tying free-throw with 0:01 on the clock. If your in the area, and can stroll into a bar, then be there.

Numbah' Two : Lane Weaver's stirrin' shit up and making some headlines! Dude's gonna try and break the world record for longest freestyle, previously held by the notable emcee known as Chiddy. Like the Chiddy Bang bro. Catch this head-turner September 3rd @ the Beauty Shoppe in Fairfield, IA. Most of you aren't Iowa-bros, I understand. So does Lane, as he's broadcasting the session LIVE on www.laneweaver.com. Grab some brews, watch some bars, nah'mean?

(World record : 9 hours and 19 minutes)

III : Captain's Quarters on KRUU FM has now been conquered by the Great Job! Sound Squad. Same time. Same 'site. More live stuff. More local features. Original artists should really get at us. We've been throwing that out sometime, and yet, little takers. Live radio play, throughout the interwebs, for thousands of peeps. Yet, slim-to-none.

Note : Great Job! Sound Squad doesn't bias against other non-musical artists. Have a project you'd like to see get a slick, free promo? Hit us up at CaptainCaptainIndustries@Gmail.com.

4 : I met Ron Paul the other day. His hands are too soft. That is all.

Lane Weaver & Katy Perry

Katy Perry's latest electronic-stomp of a single, "ET", gets rewarded with a couple of bars thrown down by C.C.I. powerhouse, Lane Weaver. Chock-full of dick-jokes and hilarious innuendos, Weaver's sly rhymes completely compliment Perry's sound and style. We'll keep you posted on any official releases or EP's in the future, but for now, you gotta vibe on this :

Tuesday Update

What up, everyone? Well, two weeks into 2011, and we finally get a reasonable amount of snow here @ The Industry, complimenting how cold it was to see Oregon lose on the national stage by a chip-shot field goal. Whatev's. The Ducks will be back next season. You'll see!

In other news, Fooch confirms via FaceBook that the Purple Asteroid Cadillac will be featured in WWS Mag this evening, and their packin' an interview! Also, this Saturday at 1:30 P.M., the Marvell Gable Show will be counting down their top twenty-five indie artists of 2010, and the P.A.C. made the cut -- catch the MGS and the Purple Asteroid Cadillac on WGCR's official website to see where they place. Big upcoming year for Fooch and the whole P.A.C. crew, as 2010 last saw them perform at a Def Jam showcase in Ohio.

Lane Weaver also confirms up to three tracks for the soon-to-be-arranged Captain Captain Industries Official Mixtape : Vol. I. We're super stoked to release that. Now I bet you all are too.

Our new demo's going over nicely, as we had a pretty nice crowd peepin' C.C.I. yesterday, and I assumed at least one or two people picked it up. Like I said though, it's completely a demo. Not sure if that'll even make the cut for our own compilation, but y'know... I may change my mind.

A'ight y'all -- that just about does it for us this afternoon. Subscribe! 'Like' us on FB! Promooootion!

Beauty Shop Post-Game Wrap Up

Twenty-one degrees. A light, frosty wind. A light, grainy snow dusting the ground. While moderately irrelevant, it seems that these weather inclements separated men from boys in our little town. While the attendance was relatively low, it was a guarantee that anybody who showed up at the Beauty Shop encountered that signature blend of unique fun. Lane Weaver's flow was immaculate, Utopia Park was dressed for the occasion, and Ill & Natti threw down some bold dub-on-reggae beats. Plus, we've got some sick new clothes we gotta show you sometime - More will follow. For now, I'm going to go hibernate. I'll see y'all when it's sunshinin' outside!

"BYLCL SMKFRSH" - The new joint by Lane Weaver ft. Fooch

In preparation for tonight's three-band/rapper battle royale at the Beauty Shop, Lane Weaver has dropped what may be his most hyped track yet. Featuring Purple Asteroid Cadillac's Fooch, this little jingle is quite the killer. Plus, two of our most popular posts have featured both of these artists, so I know we've got quite a few people who're gonna dig this one.

Bonus : The cover art (courtesy of Oliver Huntley) is a 3x4 masterpiece that would look good in your living room. The t-shirts would look just as good on you while you're checkin' out that new painting you just hung above your 52-inch. Interested in these swagnificent delicacies?

Then you gotta hit Lane up at his Official FaceBook Page.

Without further ado, Captain Captain Industries is proud to feature two premiere artists, Lane & Fooch, and their bumpin' new jam - "BYLCL SMKFRSH" (Buy local - smoke fresh, y'all!)

BYLCL SMKFRSH ft. Fooch by LaneWeaver

Be sure to catch this, and much much more, tonight @ The Beauty Shop Fundraiser. Tickets are a mere five-spot, so bring yo' lady-friend(s) if you please. I know I'll see you there --

Video Premiere Tuesday --

November 30th must be a quality date for releasing music videos. Captain Captain Industry new-comer Fooch, as well as the much hyped Lane Weaver, have dropped their long-awaited viral sensations today.

Peep 'em here first, and always be sure to drop a constructive/complimentary comment -- people love logging on and seeing a dozen new 'thumbs ups'.

--

First off, we have Fooch's newly mastered track, "Flows Ferocious". You may have heard this performed originally by his crew, Purple Asteroid Cadillac. This time around, the live instruments have been replaced by a five-star production squad, with the back-beat that's absolutely begging for remixes for months and months to come. Be sure to check the blog for Fooch's new joint, Classic Made, hosted by DJ Logikal, as well as Kidz in the Hall's own Naledge. Brainiac Society's always doin' some serious work.

Without further ado, we present -

Flows Ferocious, the first official video from Fooch's mixtape, Classic Made.

--

Next, we've gotten our hands on the newest official video from Lane Weaver. We've tossed the original song on the blog before, but now we have this official video premiere to back it up. Lane's presence on the blog has skyrocketed traffic almost every time his name is mentioned. Seriously. We average around twenty more views than we usually do every time he drops a track or new video, so I have no reason to doubt that this new joint, titled "From Her", will be a cult classic. Bustin' out the wobble on this, Lane reveals some of his more electronic-based background, while still applying his signature hip-hop accents. It's a pretty nice combo, but you don't need me tellin' you. Watch for yourself!

You saw it here first --

Lane Weaver's new official video, "From Her".

--

And just to show some love to Captain Captain Industries new-comer Naledge, we're throwin' this fan-made video of his groove-hop jam, "Star Struck" on the front page. I gotta say it again though -- Brainiac Society's doin' some WORK out here.

--

What we're on is dangerous. Be sure to catch Lane Weaver, Ill & Natti, and Utopia Park live @ the Beauty Shop (Fairfield, IA) 12/11/10. (Notice the date goes down a number, which probably means you shouldn't miss this show.)

Also, the Beauty Shop needs some financial boostin'. Don't worry! It won't cost you a dime -- you've heard of the Pepsi Refresh Project, right? Well, if not, you've gotta do some research. For those who know, I'd like to extend a hand to my brothers and sisters down on Main Street by re-posting this new video live on Captain Captain Industries. Be sure to vote every day -- starting tomorrow, December 1st. Together, we can make some waves.

--

Big day in local music, huh? Looks like you've got yourself some vid's to check out. I'll leave you to it, while I go hobble around in the new snowfall.

Always good to hear from ya'.

Lane Weaver // General Appreciation Post.

Dear Employees,

A couple days ago, I posted that new Girl Talk album, "All Day", on the blog here. As a step to actually promote the album, as well as attract some new online traffic, I presented my fellow /mu/sic lovers on 4chan.org with the blog's link. Not only did traffic skyrocket, but the downloads for previous posts (especially the two Captain Captain premieres) had skyrocketed as well. To all who browse C.C.I. -- be it frequently, or just a visit here and there -- we at the Industry would like to say that we appreciate it. Thank you, all.

As a token of our appreciation, as well as what may be a regular feature here at C.C.I, today's featured artist is the local organic hip-hop dealer, Mr. Lane Weaver.

(Exclusive alternative art, courtesy of Lane Weaver)

Lane is a goddamn terrorist, and he'll probably kill you in front of your relatives.

Lane's a good guy. He produces, writes, and records most (if not all) of his material. Through the magic of Facebook, he's presented me, as well as all of you, with his new blazin' single, "From Her", which you can find the quick, easy, and harmless download on his sleek new website, LaneWeaver.com.

Be on the lookout for Mr. Weaver. He'll be appearing off-and-on throughout the blog as the days come. If you missed his video premiere of his YouTube gem, 'Exclamation Mark!', you can find that here. Be sure to give him a thumbs-up and a good review -- tell 'em the Captain send ya'.

Bonus video :
Lane Weaver -- 'Stay in Bed' (Live @ The Beauty Shop 3.3.10)

Stay classy, y'all,

Local Swag #2

Oh man! I get home from another tiring day at the Industry, runnin' on 3-4 hours of sleep, and I see this little gem poppin' up left and right. Gives me some hope for our local town swagger.

Final verdict?
He says it himself -- "Lane Weaver : Synonymous with dopeness".

All you cats with eagle eyes, peep this video at around 1:49. Yeah boy; that's some Fooch right thar'. Look for his material (as well as his absolute ballin' crew, Purple Asteroid Cadillac) to pop up soon enough on Captain Captain Industries. I just need to get some time to do them some blog-justice.

Anyways, I'm sweatin'. Just got done testin' out the new leopard-print bike around ze loop trail. I'll see you at work tomorrow.

No excuses, phone-ins, etc.
