Triptonikhan Releases Sophomore Effort, Occupy Everything

Triptonikhan has been a part of our vastly growing community for some time now, as one of his releases would end up being featured on our now-discontinued Captain Captain Industries Official Collaborative Mixtape Volume I. (Don't worry! If you missed it, we're planning on a limited time re-release in the future.)

For those not familiar, Triptonikhan is more than a musical project, and more like an incredibly abstract collective of genres, "ranging from Turkish folk music to the free speech movement at Berkeley." Blend this in with an electronic savvy, and you have a ten-track stock-pile of a literal audio adventure waiting to be heard. Take a dive into his sophomore effort, Occupy Everything, shoot some feedback, share some tracks with your buds, and keep a look-out for more releases in the future from our affiliated artists.

Triptonikhan - Munchausen by Proxy

Valentine's Day saw C.C.I. online comrade, Triptonikhan, drop his newest EP, entitled Munchausen by Proxy. I've tried to describe Trip's sound to numerous people in person, but it really is something that you've gotta try for yourself before you can fully understand. I'm an avid fan of everything I've heard from this gent' -- not to mention the lucid, dreamscape-esque album art that accompanies his tracks.

Give this a listen -- I doubt you've heard anything quite like this before :

Triptonikhan + Purple Asteroid Cadillac + Update

Gonna be in the Santa Cruz area this Valentine's Day? Then you gotta check out our new favorite groundbreaking electronic artist - Triptonikhan. Performing at the Blue Lagoon, Trip's been killin' it here at the Industry, with his spaz-stylings blazing through our speakers on a very regular basis. We've got official word that Triptonikhan will be dropping a brand new album on Valentine's Day, and you know we'll be one of the first to let you know. Keep an eye out for this dude, and if you haven't checked our debut article on this project, you can find that right here.

Also, Captain Captain Industries juggernauts, the Purple Asteroid Cadillac crew, have a gig or four coming up in the near future -- including a February 25th showing at the Yacht Club in Iowa City. We'll getcha' some more details as they arrive, but for now, you can peep their ReverbNation page, where you can bump all of their latest and greatest tracks before what looks like a nice mini-tour in the future.

We're in the process of getting more exclusive C.C.I. artists lined up -- including a very digital video game themed album that'll keep you on your toes for a bit, as well as some genre-bending riffs by our new FaceBook friend, Tomas Roman.

Bio - Straight off of of a fresh, innovative BandCamp layout :

At the onset of 2009, experimental filmmaker and musician Scott Hanshew set out with the goal of creating and performing his own style of bass heavy experimental dance music under the name Triptonikhan. This day, October 25th 2010, marks an official milestone in accomplishing that goal.

A culmination of about two years of work, his brand new 15 track LP ‘Toxicana Turnpike’ takes you on a wild journey through a radioactive psychedelic wasteland of fear, terror, joy, ecstasy, and above all, the irresistible urge to dance. While simultaneously rocking out, the album has an unmistakable ominous tone of somber environmentalism, disrupted only by various obscure and sometimes humorous samples. With all tracks slightly melted around the edges it is far too easy to lose track of time, and all the easier to lose your mind.

Essential to the spirit of the album was collaboration with illustrator Owen Partridge, who meticulously spent many hours crafting the album cover art. An important part of creating the Triptonikhan monster was a lengthy period of drafting and brainstorming, until they both agreed upon the hideously awesome creature that is. Most of the illustrating was captured on video, with the intention of being able to experience an incredibly long process in a very compressed period of time, symbolizing the time put into the music and the art.

Ironically, the shortcomings of the Flip video internal battery proved to double the length of the filming process, entailing an hour of filming and then an hour of waiting. Eventually it was decided Owen would finish the drawing on his own, as Scott remixed the album several times, with advice and mastering by Matt Olmos.

Finally, the pieces of the puzzle, as imaginary and amorphous as they began, have taken their shape as some kind of hideously intriguing bass monster capable of total body meltdown. “Toxicana Turnpike” represents a successful long-term experiment in the process of creating various types of art, and is the first Triptonikhan album released on Ronerberg Records.
