Abby Frerichs #2

Captain Captain Industries faithful
,

After I returned home from my radio show (now co-hosted by the great Tama Eagleson!), I hopped on the trusty desktop to peep out some of our blog stats -- and surely enough, you guys n' gals are really diggin' on the Abby Frerichs. Our original C.C.I. showcase post on Ms. Frerichs was more than a month ago; yet, it's still getting a great deal of consistent clicks. In honor of this pretty rad achievement, we're dishin' out another one of Abigail's premium .mp3's. A Velvet Underground cover none-the-less! And yes, she's featured in our highly-hyped** soon-to-be-released mixtape, so all of you can just settle down. :)

Abby Frerichs - "After Hours" (Velvet Underground)

** That's strictly our fault -- we're just geeked to get some physical CD-age out to our readers, and to anybody else who'd like to be a part of the Industry! Actually, to tell you all the truth, there is one CD in public rotation right now, making it the rarest release we've ever had (hah). We're limiting the pre-releasing of this mixtape, as there are songs by multiple artists, and I couldn't compromise an unofficial (style-biters!) leak. We've made some amazing friends along the ride, as well as showcasing some of our own crew, and we'd just hate to see that go to waste. Plus, we're having a lot of fun releasing this; the bottom line? Don't worry -- you'll get your blog-edition copies soon enough! How else would we be able to even dream of doing this?

What's up, crew? Just got the day kicked off after yesterday's gig at the Beauty Shop -- an epic throwdown between Ill & Natti, Imperfekt and Colorless, Coolzey, and of course, that P.A.C. clique.

Solid night -- met a couple of nice peeps, got the word out about C.C.I., and had ourselves a nice little hip-hop of an evening. Good to see we've still got a nice scene around here.

With all of that energy out and about, today feels much more like a Sunday than a Saturday, but y'know how we do.

Big things coming from our 420chan.org fanbase -- we've got an overflow of mixtape submissions, ranging from every genre, and our traffic has seen a bigger spike than norm', so that's definitely something we'll be taking in to consideration.

Abigail Frerichs, one of our absolutely favorite featured artists, has a show today! Click here for all the official details. Hopefully we'll get her down here to our territory for a Beauty Shop showcase in the near-future. (Look to ze right, find her photo, click on it, and that'll take you to one of our first musical highlights in CCI history.)

Utopia Park Bro's + Dan Deacon tonight in Iowa City! Should be absolutely electric, and I really hope that a yearly Deacon/Utopia show is a continued tradition. Can't make it this year, but they've got the support goin'.

☮, y'all.

Captain Captain Industries Exclusive : Abby Frerichs

Captain Captain Industries looooong-term accolade, Abigail "Abby" Frerichs, has unveiled a demo tape that's swirling and twirling around the confines of the internet. The six-song demo, all done in spectacular acoustic, ranges from a fun six-string spunky version of Miley Cyrus' "Cant Be Tamed" to a C.C.I. radio show favorite -- her beautiful rendition of the Jackson 5's classic, "I Want You Back".

It'd be an honor to inform you of her not-so-secret downtown Waterloo show at the Cellar. It's on the seventeenth of this month at precisely eight o'clock sharp, and if weather/various car issues permit me to, I'll be there. If however, I can't attend, you all should take my place. You wouldn't be disappointed in the least, plus you'd get to see her perform live -- something I regretfully have not done yet. If you live in Waterloo, or in the surrounding area, then you have no excuse to miss this.

So you're still skeptical? Not anymore!
Check out this downloadable bonus :

Hopefully we can snag some more tracks from this rising acoustic wonder, so be sure to stay tuned. A subscription/bookmark wouldn't hurt, right? :)

I have a strong feeling that this won't be the last time you hear from Ms. Frerichs here at The Industry. Until then though, stay warm and drive safe.

Swag Week Finale - " 'Environmentally Aware Swaggin' "

This video is a perfect way to celebrate the finale of "Swag Week". Long-time friend Abigail Frerichs performs Switchfoot's 'Dare You To Move' in support of the re-building of the Lake Delhi Dam, which was destroyed on July 24th of this year.

I really need to start playing again. Songs like that are beyond inspiring.

Here's two brothers I went to school with. Their performance of Mayday Parade's 'Miserable at Best' is five minutes and twenty-four seconds of perfection.

I'm definitely feeling the guitar today. The weather's perfect, most of football has hit halftime, and Dexter doesn't start until later tonight. I'm gonna fill up the tank and drive somewhere and re-polish my acoustic "skills". (Note that 'skills' is in quotes...)

More posts later today, but I knew this was the right way to end Swag Week -- on a positive note.
